Artists & Makers Studios
Artists & Makers Studios flagship operation is a13,000 square foot art center studio complex in Rockville, Maryland founded in 2014 by artist and community builder Judith HeartSong. Hosting a wide variety of resident artists, makers, gallery members and affiliates, A&M offers studios for rent, extensive classroom/workshop spaces, and several galleries. Exhibitions are juried and curated by Cathy Hirsh under the direction of the executive director.
Come and see gorgeous and unique gallery exhibits each month, typically on First Fridays from 5:00 - 8:00 pm unless a major holiday bumps the openings to Second Friday. Enjoy Resident Artist’s open studios for browsing and shopping, demos, and special events. Plan a tour with your group during weekday hours. Open 10-4 Monday through Saturday. Classes and workshops are scheduled directly with artists.
We are also expanding across the country. Artists & Makers Studios – Oro Valley, AZ is a two-year-old jewel box location with talented Resident Artists, 3,575 sq ft of studios, galleries, and flex-classroom space. Construction is currently underway in San Gabriel, CA for Artists & Makers Studios’ third location, with construction set to begin shortly for the fourth location in North Hollywood, CA.
Studio space is perfect for painters, fiber artists, jewelers, craftspeople, designers, architects, writers, and more. If you are interested in a studio/office, please contact Judith to be added to the waitlist. Images of current work, your resume/bio, and an interview are required for jurying into the program. While the studios are currently full and on waitlist, artists and makers often have different needs in a studio space, so it could be that an available space will be ready for you shortly.
Artists & Makers Studio's flagship center is located in the White Flint neighborhood of Rockville, MD. The second-floor studios are accessible from the upper-level parking area behind the building. For visitors using public transit, Artists & Makers Studios is easily accessible from the North Bethesda/White Flint Metro Rail station using the Ride-On 38 Wheaton via HP or the C8 to College Park Station, or a 16-minute walk.
